We are fortunate to have superb, fresh ingredients available locally making dining at the Metropole Hotel simply divine.

The Directors and our Head Chef are passionate about promoting the highest of culinary standards using locally sourced produce and is well known for his early morning excursions to collect cepes and chanterelles from a local forest at Abbeycwmhir! Plans are currently being made to create our own herb and vegetable garden.

The Metropole’s award-winning Restaurant is without doubt a most superb fine dining establishment.

 

Vale of Rheidol Railway

The Vale of Rheidol Light Railway was authorised by the Act of Parliament on 6th August 1897. At the time of building, it was one of the most up-to-date standard of narrow gauge construction, and passed through terrain where it would have been almost impossible to build a standard gauge line without prohibitive costs. The line was authorised as two distinct sections, namely the main line from Aberystwyth to Devil’s Bridge, and a harbour branch.

 

The Vale of Rheidol Railway is the owner of an extensive collection of historical narrow gauge locomotives and rolling stock.

Several items from the collection are visible in the Engine Shed Display Building, with exhibits being changed over time.
