Day Tour : Abergavenny & Brecon
Abergavenny
Due to its location and easy access to the Brecon Beacons National Park and the nearby Black Mountains, is often referred to as the ‘Gateway to Wales’.
You can discover locally-produced food, and fantastic scenery – the beautiful Black Mountains are the backdrop to Abergavenny in the south east corner of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The town is a great base for walking, cycling and just enjoying the great outdoors.
With its annual Abergavenny Food Festival, the town is also mecca for foodies – and there are plenty of gorgeous gastro pubs, ancient inns and restaurants to try.
Regular markets are held weekly in the town where you can buy quality produce grown locally too.
Abergavenny has history and heritage in spades – come and explore castles, medieval mansions, Roman remains and standing stones.
Brecon
Brecon, the beating heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park, nestles in the Usk Valley between the Brecon Beacons to the South and the Black Mountains to the East.
The picturesque market town, famed for its Georgian architecture, is an ideal destination to visit, with plenty of accommodation, cafes, restaurants and shops.
It has a long and important history as a town within the region.
For those who love the outdoors Brecon is one of the UK’s most popular tourists destinations and not forgetting the nearby Brecon Canal.
