Dewlay  Cheesemakers

Dewlay Cheesemakers was founded by George Kenyon in 1957. A keen dairyman, he decided to set up his own cheesemaking dairy in the heart of Garstang. Since then, Dewlay has earned a reputation for producing the very best Lancashire cheese.

Neil Kenyon joined his father after leaving school and carried on the tradition of consistently producing the highest quality Lancashire cheese. With great foresight and vision, Neil moved the business to its current site in 1997, designing and building Dewlay’s dedicated dairy and packing site, nestled on eight-acres of land just outside of Garstang.

Dewlay is now run by third generation brothers, Nick and Richard Kenyon, who are carrying on the fine tradition laid down by their grandfather and father, producing Lancashire’s finest cheese.

If you have ever wondered how cheese is made, join us as we are guided through the dairy, we shall be greeted with refreshments, followed by a talk on the history of Dewlay,

And not forgetting the fabulous cheese tasting with the opportunity to explore the Cheese Shop.

The award winning tour guide and author Simon Entwistle will join us on a captivating coach tour of the Ribble Valley ,we will sit back and enjoying the beautiful scenery, stories whilst learning the history from the valley.

 

Houghton Tower with Afternoon Tea

Your feet will be wearing smooth the same stone and timber trodden by the likes of King James I, Dickens and Shakespeare.

Hoghton Tower’s rich history – which goes back as far as William the Conqueror – says a lot about Lancashire and England, but when told by our guides it’s an entertaining, revealing and human story, of why Shakespeare was here in the first place, how King James I ‘knighted’ a loin of beef; “Sirloin”, and exactly which ‘Peaky Blinders’ scenes were played out here.

You can gain similar insights about the world beyond the walls when we take an expert tour which explores, mysterious historic graffiti and archaeology and they will bring the Houghton family home to life.
