Day Trip : Stratford-Upon-Avon

Stratford Upon Avon

There are many fantastic areas of Stratford-upon-Avon to explore, which is why visitors flock back year after year to discover more.

From quaint side streets with unique and individual shops to open parklands along the river, there’s something for everyone.

However, it is much more than that, a market town with more than 800 years of history containing not only many buildings that survive to day and would have been familiar to Shakespeare, but also a thriving community offering a wide variety of leisure and shopping experiences.

A town synonymous with William Shakespeare.

Every visit to Stratford would not be complete without finding out more about the English poet and playwright that makes it famous.  Shakespeare's Birthplace allows you to visit the house where the world’s most famous playwright was born and grew up to discover more about his early years.

Other must see Shakespeare locations include  Hall's Croft (home to William's daughter),  Shakespeare's New Place (the last chapter in his life),  Anne Hathaway's cottag  (a romantic setting) and  Mary Arden's Farm (the childhood home of Shakespeare's mother)

There are many things to explore in Stratford-upon-Avon, which is why visitors flock back every year to discover more.

Stratford is a town bursting with many independent shops stacked with unique products sold by shop keepers who have a real stake in the community.

George Pragnell is the oldest and most prestigious independent shop in the town centre, The black and white tudor style frontages and the old shop signs give visitors a feel of what the town might have looked like in Shakespeare's time. You have an arrary of major high street retailes to visit.

Stratford Canal Basin is a bustling environment centrally located between the world famous Royal Shakespeare Theatre and main shopping areas.

You will find some unique and interesting boat based businesses permanently moored there.

There are a good variety of food and refreshment options available, sightseeing boat tours or even dining on board a restaurant cruiser.

Stratford Canal Basin is surrounded by beautiful riverside gardens, which are public open spaces to relax and enjoy.

These areas are a magnet for locals and visitors and a 'must see' during any visit.
